The Sower Lifestyle

The Sower Lifestyle

God is always about increase. He is all about growing, and you can read this principle all over Scriptures: “We have received grace upon grace upon grace” …” He is able to do far more abundantly than we ask or imagine” … “There will be no end to the increase of His government or kingdom.”

God is all about doubling, multiplying and unending increase. We see it in his command to Adam and Eve to be fruitful and multiply. Jesus talks about a 30, 60, or 100-fold increase for his faithful followers. We hear Jesus saying we will do greater works that He does. We see it in the command to make disciples of all nations. We see the twelve becoming 120 after resurrection, and new believers being added daily after the Holy Spirit is poured out. Even today, we see God’s kingdom expanding all over the world!

Most often, God starts this principle of increase by giving seed for sowing. Whatever he has given you in “seed” form (your gifts, talents, opportunities, jobs, family, finances, miracles, breakthrough) … everything He has given you, his heart is that you make it grow.

It would be a waste if everything you worked hard to build for your children’s financial stability, they would use within 10 years of receiving the inheritance. In the same way, the last thing God wants, and what breaks his heart is when the gifts and “seeds” He gives you is wasted, and there is death instead of growth. It grieves Him when we stay small, stagnant or unfaithful.  When we don’t intentionally sow, we violate his intent because He said His kingdom and dominion will be forever increasing and has no end. That tells the world that the power of the Holy Spirit isn’t working within us and He isn’t evident upon us.

The choice to obey and increasingly grow is up to you. His power assures you that He can make it grow, and He has given you the ability to make it grow. The Holy Spirit within you says He can and is willing and powerful to make those “seeds” grow.

My role as a child of God is to grow all that my Father has given me. To be fruitful and multiply, whether I am in church or outside of it.  My role as a parent is not about making my children’s future easier for them than it was for me. The biggest gift I can give my children is to model and equip for them the same “sower” lifestyle, so that they too can learn to grow whatever God gives them.

The fruit of this faithfulness is revival in our church and in the future generations. That’s how we transform our communities. This is how we change the world.

2 Corinthians 9:8,10
Yes, God is more than ready to overwhelm you with every form of grace, so that you will have more than enough of everything—every moment and in every way. He will make you overflow with abundance in every good thing you do. This generous God who supplies abundant seed for the farmer, which becomes bread for our meals, is even more extravagant toward you. First, he supplies every need, plus more. Then he multiplies the seed as you sow it, so that the harvest of your generosity and righteous works of benevolence will grow.
