Extravagant, Like Father Like Son

Extravagant, Like Father Like Son

The Lord does not hold back His love, and He loves us with all His heart and all His mind and all His strength. Can you imagine what it actually feels like to be loved by God with all of Him? He doesn’t hold back; He pours His love on us like a strong waterfall.

See how extravagant He is –

God forgives my sins—every one, of them in spite of all I’ve done.
He heals me inside and out from every disease—every disease.
He rescued me from hell and saved my life!
He crowns me with love and mercy—a paradise crown.
He satisfies my every desire with good things.
He renews my youth— I’m always young in His presence.
He supercharged my life so that I soar again like a flying eagle in the sky!
He makes everything come out right;
He puts victims back on their feet.
He is so kind and tenderhearted to those who don’t deserve it, and so very patient with people who fail Him. (see Psalm 103)

As His child, my response to the Father’s extravagant love is to love Him back with all beingmy entire heart, mind, soul and strength! His Holy Spirit who dwells in me longs to love Him back no other way but this. So I put Him first and above all else, and I do this joyfully, because He is my Abba-Father-Daddy.

And if God loves me with all of Him, how can I not love myself the way He loves me? I honor this body that He gave and make it serve Him well. I protect my heart and think only of good thoughts for Him. My hands and feet, and all parts of me are beautiful in His eyes, and all are worthy and treasured. I will not waste my gifts, my possessions or my time. I will make use of all my days for Him because He loves me now and my entire future.

And if God love me with all of Him, how can I not love others who He also loves? Like Jesus who ached for the whole world, I will have compassion for everyone and love them just the same way He loves me. How I long for them to know His extravagant love. I will not be kept silent – I will demonstrate and share His love for them. No matter what I face.

I will be extravagant, like Father like Son.

PRAYER:
“Father, Your extravagant love makes me want to be like you! I won’t keep it a secret or hide the truth. I will tell of your faithfulness and kindness, and proclaim your extravagant love to the largest crowd I can find! Keep me in your truth and let your compassion overflow to me no matter what I face.” (see Psalm 40:10-11)
