So many people on earth are fatherless, lost, disconnected. So many are children without the presence or love of a good father. So many people who are abandoned, abused and forgotten. So many who strive hard to earn their place, and yet find themselves short or rejected.
If this is you… Let this encourage and reassure us, that God himself said this:
And I will be a Father to you, and you shall be my sons and daughters, said the Lord Almighty. 2 Corinthians 6:18
God didn’t just come to save us and bring us to heaven, He desires that we know Him as intimately as our good, good Father, and that we will find our home in Him.
Home is where I am unconditionally loved, where there is no fear, shame, guilt or condemnation.
Home in the Father is where we don’t need to strive so hard, try so hard to earn our place. Instead, HOME is that presence of God, where we know we have warmth, provision, guidance, joy, peace and abundant life. Where we know – not just feel, but know for certain – that in God our Almighty Father, we have real happiness instead of deep sorrow, regret or emptiness.
HOME in the Father is where we are so filled with love that we can generously love others as well.
And HOME can be found in the here and now, in Jesus who came to reveal the Father.
Reflect on this:
“Because of Christ’s redemption,
I am a new creation of infinite worth.
I am deeply loved,
I am completely forgiven,
I am fully pleasing,
I am totally accepted by God,
I am absolutely complete in Christ.”
Take this to Heart:
You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand. Psalm 16:11
