The Rescue and Recovery Team
As Jesus-followers, we know that someday Jesus will return and everything in the world will forever be made right and perfect and good. This hope is our anchor in the midst of trials, persecutions, hardships and chaos. We can persevere knowing that Jesus, even at the cross, has conquered death and He already stands victorious. Even at the cross the enemy has been vanquished, and someday soon we will witness that reality at His second coming.
Knowing this truth deep in our spirits should cause us to approach life differently:
- Jesus is the victorious King, and He is coming back for a glorious Church. Jesus will not be met by a defeated, powerless, compromising, lukewarm Church but a people who have lived victoriously, holy and blameless, pure in our love and wholly devoted to our King.
- While we are waiting, we are not to simply endure through the suffering and chaos, nor to hunker down and wait for things to be over. We are not to huddle in church either, wary of being contaminated by those from the outside. Instead…
- Our lights shine the brightest in the darkest of places. Darkness cannot engulf you unless you allow it, but if you carry the Light of Christ, then you should not be afraid of the dark. After all, it is his Light in you that dispels the darkness around you.
- That power from the Holy Spirit is your God-given authority to heal a broken world, make disciples of all nations, and rescue the enemy’s slaves. And get this: God will not use anyone else but you.
Reflect on This:
Are you simply waiting for the battle to be over, or will you join in the rescue?
Take This To Heart:
The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is upon you, and anointed you to bring good news to the poor, comfort the brokenhearted, bring sight to the blind, release the oppressed AND proclaim His outrageous grace and mercy. (See Luke 4:18-19)
