(Note from Pastors Mike and Grace: Once in a while we publish here the Pastor’s Pen that our spiritual parents from River of Life Baltimore wrote for the same week, when the message is powerful and relevant for both churches. One of those times is today, Palm Sunday.)
The prophecy recorded in the book of Zechariah 9:9 became a reality during the Triumphal Entry of Jesus to Jerusalem:
“Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion!
Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem!
Behold, your King is coming to you;
He is just and having salvation,
Lowly and riding on a donkey,
A colt, the foal of a donkey.”
THINK ABOUT THIS… God already had a plan a long way before hand to use a young, unassuming donkey for Jesus to ride on that glorious day when people would welcome Him jubilantly. That young donkey, though never ridden before, submitted himself humbly to Jesus to be sat upon, bearing the Lord to be glorified by many.
It afforded the people to have a good view of the Savior and King who was glorified. The humble donkey encountered Christ and His glory! Isn’t that amazing?
THEN THINK OF IT THIS WAY… God’s plan for your salvation through Jesus Christ happened! He used ‘someone’ to bring us to Him. Let us be aware that as people that are saved, our willingness and availability can also make others see the Lord clearly.
We don’t have to hold an important position to do that important task. If God can use a humble donkey instead of an elegant-looking robust horse, He can also use us to bring Him to others so that they may know Him and His wonderful love for them.
Let us carry Jesus and elevate Him and not ourselves to be seen by others. With the empowerment and leading of the Holy Spirit, we can do it.
When we carry the presence of Christ in our hearts and let HIS LOVE have a triumphant entry to the lives of our family, friends and others we meet in schools, hospitals, workplaces, grocery stores, restaurants, social media, etc. WE LET JESUS BE KNOWN AND LOVED – for HIS GLORY!!
Happy Palm Sunday, fellow ‘Christ Bearers’!
Love, Pastors Benjun and Malou
