Who Would You Rather Believe?

The unfortunate truth is that there will always be someone who offends us, hurts us or rejects us. Often, their opinions hurt us so much we actually become who they accuse us of!  We start believing those lies and it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. We feel rejected, worthless, and defeated.

But why?! Why do you let the weaknesses of others, or the lies they tell you, affect how you treat yourself and others?

God is your Creator and He said you are the apple of His eyes, and He accepts you as His own. If God Himself accepts you, the truth is, we can never be rejected again! Because if God accepts you, and He says you are made right in Him, how can anyone else take away what they never gave you in the first place?

2 Corinthians 3:18 says the truth is, we are being changed to become more like Christ so that we have more and more glory.

God wants to fill us with His fullness – His character, his attitude, His response, His dreams… and the more we spend time with Him, the more we pay attention to what He says about us about who we really are – the more we will see ourselves to be beautiful and accepted. And then we start producing what God has planted in us – goodness, patience, love, mercy, holiness and hope.

2 Corinthians 3:18 also adds that this glory comes from the Holy Spirit living in us. This is the Holy Spirit, the one who made an impossible feat by raising Jesus from the dead! Can He not resurrect your dead, defeated thoughts, too? The Holy Spirit gives life to you, so He is stronger than whatever opinion or lies anyone else is trying to put on you. Who would you rather believe?

Reflect on this:

What would your life be like if you can see yourself as God accepts you?

Take this to heart:

Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.  2 Corinthians 3:17
