Worship and the Good News

The gospel of John tells the story of a Samaritan woman who encountered Jesus at midday while drawing water from a well. She had had a history of divorces, and she was not even married to the man she was living with. She was an outcast, fearful, suspicious and avoided people who shunned her.

And yet something happened to her that day that gave her courage to change. Jesus offered her eternal life and she grabbed it! Then she told the very people who casted her out about the Messiah who can give them that same life. (Read John 4:6-42).

Jesus said, “But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way.” (verse 23)

Jesus was seeking for true worshipers that day – and He found one in this Samaritan woman.

Jesus was not seeking for people who will make a ‘decision’ for him. Jesus came to change worshipers of false gods to worshippers of the One True God. When you became born again, change was inevitable. You have forgiveness, joy, freedom, new life, True Love. He completely changed you and now you to worship Him with all your heart. Don’t let anything stop you from telling others about what He can do for them too.

This is Good News: True worshipers become powerful witnesses. Are you living out who you are?

Reflect on This:
What Good News has Jesus done for you lately? Praise and worship Him, and tell others about this Good News!
